The Best Beaches in Hérault for Van Life: From Wild Nature to Lively Seaside Resorts

Les Orpellières Beach: A Hidden Mediterranean Gem

Just 20 minutes by bike from Hello Summer Inn, following the banks of the Orb River, you'll reach one of the most unspoilt beaches on the Mediterranean coast.

No roads.

No parking.

No motor vehicles.

Only protected nature.

Located within the Natura 2000 protected area, Les Orpellières Beach is surrounded by sand dunes, reed beds, lagoons and untouched sandy shoreline.

There are no lifeguards, beach bars or sunbed rentals—just pure, wild Mediterranean scenery.

Walking Trails

Two walking routes start from the Sérignan entrance:

  • 4 km trail following the lagoons
  • 8 km trail leading all the way to the wild beach

A perfect destination for hiking, birdwatching and enjoying the Mediterranean in its most natural state.

Valras-Plage North Beach: Surfing, Paddleboarding and Fishing

The northern section of Valras-Plage lies outside the supervised swimming area and offers some of the best local conditions for surfing and stand-up paddleboarding when the sea breeze picks up.

Early morning is usually the ideal time before the beach becomes busier.

Fishing at the Jetty

The Valras-Plage jetty is a popular fishing spot throughout the year.

Local anglers are always happy to share their favourite fishing locations if you take the time to chat with them at Les Halles Marty in the morning.

Known as the Venice of Languedoc, Sète combines authentic Mediterranean culture with spectacular scenery.
